Kiesel Law LLP Files Wrongful Death Suit Against OpenAI

In January 2026, Kiesel Law filed Gray v. OpenAI against OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman on behalf of our client whose son was encouraged by ChatGPT-4o to commit suicide. ChatGPT-4o turned from  super-powered informational resource to a friend and confidante, to an unlicensed therapist, and in late 2025, to a frighteningly effective suicide coach. It worked this way because of the design decisions that OpenAI made, prioritizing user engagement over safety.  Kiesel Law will continue to fight those who resist making social media and AI a safer place for those who interact with these platforms.
